Terms of Service.

Effective September 26, 2026 · Applies to the Manners app, mannersapp.com and the waitlist.

The short version. Manners helps you plan, shop for and cook a week of meals. Prices it shows are estimates until you choose a store; after that they are that store's listed price when we looked, which can change before you pay. Allergen and nutrition information is computed from our recipe data and is a help, not a guarantee — always check the label. Be decent at the Table. Don't break the app or the law. We can change these terms and will tell you when we do.

The full version is below, and it is the one that counts.

1. Who we are, and what you are agreeing to

Manners is operated by Manners ("we", "us"). You can reach us at hello@mannersapp.com. By joining the waitlist, installing the app, creating an account or using any part of the service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please don't use Manners.

2. What Manners is — and isn't

Manners is a planning aid. It proposes dishes for the week from a catalog we write and maintain, estimates what they will cost — or, once you choose a store, looks up what they cost there — builds a shopping list and walks you through cooking them. It is not a grocery store, a delivery service, a nutritionist or a doctor.

3. The beta

Manners is currently distributed through Apple's TestFlight as pre-release software. Pre-release software has bugs. Features may change, appear or disappear between builds, and your data may occasionally need to be reset. Your use of TestFlight is also governed by Apple's TestFlight terms. If we open the waitlist to more people, we do it in the order that seems sensible to us, and joining the waitlist does not guarantee access.

4. Your account

5. The Table

The Table lets you form small groups ("dinner tables") with people you invite, see what they are cooking, and pass dishes back and forth. When you use it:

6. Stores and third parties

Manners may hand your shopping list to a third-party store or delivery service (for example by opening a link to them). Once you leave Manners, their terms and their privacy policy apply, they set the prices, and they fulfill the order. We are not a party to that purchase. Ordering from inside Manners is not yet available; when it is, we will update these terms first.

7. Our content

The recipes, the words, the design and the software are ours or licensed to us. You may use them, in the app, to cook for yourself and the people at your table. You may not scrape, copy, republish or sell the catalog, reverse-engineer the app, or use the service to build a competing catalog. Cooking a dish and telling people about it is, of course, fine — that is the point.

Sponsored collections. The Explore screen may carry a collection that a brand has paid for. It is always labeled as sponsored before you read it, it is the same card for everyone, and it never changes what the planner suggests, what a dish costs, or what goes on your list. Sponsored content appears on Explore and nowhere else in the app.

8. Acceptable use

Don't attack, overload or probe the service; don't try to access other people's data; don't automate the app or the waitlist; don't use Manners for anything illegal. Security researchers who find something are welcome to tell us at hello@mannersapp.com.

9. No warranty

Manners is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that estimates will be accurate, that a store's price will still stand when you pay, or that any dish will turn out well.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Manners. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim and US $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

11. Ending things

You can stop using Manners at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we shut the service down — in which case we will give reasonable notice where we can. Sections 2, 7, 9, 10, 12 and 13 survive termination.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product changes. For material changes we will tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Manners after that date means you accept the new terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Manners is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the courts of that state. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that gives you the right to sue at home, you keep that right. Before either of us files anything, we agree to try to sort it out by email first.

14. The rest

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Manners. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still stands. If we don't enforce something right away, we haven't waived it. You may not transfer your account or these terms to anyone else; we may assign them to a successor that takes over the service.
